The zebrafish (Danio rerio), a vertebrate with 70% genetic homology to humans, is an important and widely used vertebrate model organism for scientific research. Toxicity assays on zebrafish models allow researchers to identify genes that may contribute to human disease to predict human health and aid in the development of novel drugs.

The role of the zebrafish as a predictive model of human physiological disease in scientific research gave birth to 'ZEBBAGREEN': a digital biospecimen that acts as a test for the detection of human mental states, called zebba.

Twisting and swelling are intuitive visual elements of the phenomenon of zebrafish embryo poisoning (see 01-[1]), which becomes an intuitive reflection of the sample's toxicity testing of digital information media.
ZEBBAGREEN uses font variation as the basic unit of a media detection system. We believe that text and graphics are the basic elements connecting all the information of life, and that a changing typeface is both. Here, a variable text takes over all inputs (reading) and outputs (typing) of the human reflections.
How do we use zebba samples in a virtual digital space? zebba does not try to be a tool, but simply a natural presence, poisoned by human contamination and providing data, just as the zebrafish in the lab silently produce reactions and simply provide sample data for the scientists. The project on the left detects the hours we spend working in our digital lives, providing a digital response to the contamination of the human spirit.
Extracting a dynamic screen into the physical world, it seems possible to imagine a dynamic response to the traditional medium of paper. 'Calendar' is zebba's exploration of crossing over and becoming part of physical life. At first glance, the digital and physical worlds seem to be separate, whereas in reality the two layers are actually closely intertwined, constantly influencing, interacting and shaping each other.
With the support of mobile devices (hardware), opentype specifications and web technologies (software), the scope of experimentation on zebba samples can be expanded to include almost everyone in their daily lives.

Our bias to view digital artifacts as distinct from natural objects obscures the reality that digital biospecimens (software and hardware) as a detection experiment are also interacting with the natural world. The digital and physical worlds occupy different levels of reality, constantly interacting with each other.
